Hello all,

A lot has happened since I last checked in, so I hope this message finds you well. Like many of us, my job changed in 2020 – along with so many other things. After devoting twenty three years to a company that I had known and excelled at, someone in management decided that it was time for me to part ways. And finally, after many emotionally taxing battles, in March 2023, I exited as part of a reduction in force (“corporate downsizing”}.

Y’all – I went through hell for three years – sleepless nights, eye twitching, headaches, etc! Yet, I am also resilient, optimistic, and grateful for the opportunity to pivot into other roles and endeavors.

In viewing this break as a new beginning, I am taking a much needed sabbatical. Not only have I worked my way up the corporate ladder from a temp making copies and filling papers, to Vice President, I have raised and supported three children as a single mother. Thankfully, they’re grown now! Perfect timing to invest in my own well-being and personal growth, while taking time to plant flowers, take deep breaths, watch sunsets and explore new avenues.

What do I want to do next? Likely, some things I haven’t fully imagined yet. First up is a trip to East Africa – including a safari in Kenya, gorilla trekking in Uganda, chilling in the hills of Rwanda, a hot air balloon ride, and so much more! Then I will trek to West Africa – I’m going back to Senegal and Ghana, and to Cape Verde for the first time. I would also love to make it to Zambia.
