The Happily Married – Do They Really Exist?

Twelve years passed by really fast! That’s when initially took a poll on happily married couples (how many do you know?). I don’t know where the data stands today, but as for me – I am happily single. If I could bottle up the joy I feel most days and sell it, it would be a hit.

There was a time when I wanted to be married – I wrote about that on this blog at least a few times. Now? I don’t really care. I care about being happy, healthy – and free to enjoy life. If I meet a partner who adds to that joy – and is a joyous, whole, happy and emotionally healthy person himself? – I’d be on board with doing life together. Until then? Catch me chilling in peace!

How many happily married couples do you know? Answer in the comments.

  1. Key word is happily. I know married ones, but I don’t know if it is in joy they continue on in. I suspect now, people don’t stay together for the kids as much as they did. It’s an easy, common get off the train. However, these strict religious married couples, maybe they are staying together for God?

  2. Interesting perspective! I wonder, do you think societal pressures impact perceptions of marriage happiness? Also, what’s your key to staying joyful?

    • Great question! I do think societal pressures impact perceptions of marriage and happiness. Somehow, I’ve never felt that pressure, although I know many people do. I also think perceptions are changing, at least in the Western World as messaging and priorities shift to fulfillment and maybe more individualism. Regarding staying joyful, I just published a post about how I am still in alignment with the things I did for fun as a kid. I maintain a sense of wonder about the world and I “play” through artistic endeavors. Thanks for engaging.
