Ever hit it off with someone online only to become friends in real life? Or even lovers?
In this case, just friends – but meeting fellow blogger Melissa of Here There Everywhere in London was one of the highlights of my summer! (Yes, it’s Autumn now in the northern hemisphere. But I’ll be looking back on last summer with a certain fondness – forever!)
We’d been following each other’s blogs for at least two years and chatting ever so often about London, various travel destinations, relationships, etc. So I thought “we should meet up when I’m there in August!” And that we did. Melissa is a gracious hostess an an awesome photographer. Also – the timing couldn’t have been more perfect; she relocated back to Canada shortly after my visit.
Here’s some of what we did during our day together:
St. Dunstan-in-the-East!
I’d been wanting to visit this gem for more than a year. Looked for it when I was there last summer to no avail and boom! We found it on the first try this time. And I was a happy camper.
St Dunstan-in-the-East was a Church of England parish church on St Dunstan’s Hill, halfway between London Bridge and the Tower of London in the City of London. The church was largely destroyed in the Second World War and the ruins are now a public garden.
Neal’s Yard
We ate at Thai Square, a chain restaurant near Covent Garden. Honestly, I’ve never had better Thai food. (Disclaimer: I’ve only had it in New York, like three times!)
Our next meeting will either be in Toronto or New York City (and we both have New Zealand in our sights). For sure, there are more adventures to be had between us. 😊
All in all, my stay in London was brief and fun. From there, I headed to Mallorca, and then on to Barcelona before swirling back around to the U.S. (I promise to share more pics soon!)

When I was in London in August, my boyfriend also met up for the first time with a friend he talks to every single day but had only met over the internet! J 🙂

Isn’t that something? Thanks to the Internet we can easily forge meaningful relationships with folks who are thousands of miles away.
